other Massachusetts Based Artist Wears Many Hats – Musically, Thematically, Linguistically … and Literally Northampton, MA – Mister G bursts onto the national family music scene with his adventurous second CD release, BUGS. Featuring 13 original songs, BUGS will be available just in time for summer road trips and cookouts on May 24th from Coil Records. Visit http://www.mistergsongs.com/ for information. Mister G is Ben Gundersheimer, a critically acclaimed singer/songwriter/producer who spent 20 years as a rock frontman and solo artist before transitioning to making family music. The first student to garner a songwriting scholarship to Berklee College of Music, who has won 10 ASCAP awards, Ben toured internationally before going back to school to earn a Masters degree in elementary education. As a teaching artist, Mister G brings his innovative educational programs to schools, museums and performing arts centers. As a performing artist, Mister G has appeared with Dan Zanes and other kindie stars including Lunch Money, Brady Rymer and Secret Agent 23 Skidoo. Since his 2009 release Pizza for Breakfast, Mister G has written dozens of new songs, 13 of which are presented on this new CD. Featuring musical styles that bounce engagingly from bluegrass to bossa nova, ska to folk and rock, the song themes vary from world travels to a shark in the bathtub to annoying siblings and “Pam the Pug” sitting on a rug. Every song inspires listeners to sing, dance and laugh, perfect elements for family time together. “Gonna Take My Hat” is a unique traveling tune that refers to Mister G’s habit of covering his pate with a different chapeau as he travels around the globe: “I’m gonna take my hat wherever I go,” he sings as he travels to “New York, Paris, London, Home” and various other destinations. “Grilled Cheese” is a ska–beat ode to Mister G’s favorite lunch treat. The title track, “Bugs,” has instantly become a fan favorite at Mister G concerts. “Kids go crazy for it, screaming their heads off at the idea of bugs on them, and laughing at the thought of bugs crawling on me," laughs Mister G. The summery zydeco inflected song invites children to become bugs themselves and reminds us that “every bug you see has a million sisters and brothers.” “I love the pure energy and dynamic back-and-forth of performing for kids,” says Mister G. “There’s such honesty in the reaction from the audience, and I love how kids are so uninhibited as they respond to the music and lyrics.” For this release, Mister G enlisted longtime friends and collaborators Doug Derryberry (Bruce Hornsby’s guitarist), Mike Visceglia (Suzanne Vega’s bassist) and Steve Gaboury (Cyndi Lauper’s keyboardist). BUGS also includes A bonus track on BUGS is a youthful arrangement of the Elton John hit “Benny and the Jets,” performed by the 9-year old Mister G in his Philadelphia living room. Anne Beresford, an artist whose work has been exhibited in galleries in Boston and New York, created the striking BUGS cover art. The CD artwork also includes a gallery of young fan drawings of Mister G wearing his various hats. BUGS will be available at a suggested retail price of $15 (9.99 digital) at various online retailers including Amazon.com, CDBaby, iTunes and more. Mister G will be touring up and down the East Coast this spring and summer to celebrate the release of Bugs. For more information, visit Mister G's website. |

My Thoughts
Don't ya just love kids music? Mister G does a great job of making BUGS a fun way to bond with your child. My daughter can not sit still when I pop the CD into the computer. Jumping, dancing and singing with your child while listening to BUGS by Mister G gets a thumbs up from the Carter family. Cocodrilo(Crocodile) and Vamos a la Playa are two bilingual songs included on this CD. WARNING: Keep an eye out for more Spanish language songs to be released in the future from Mister G.
You will find BUGS on Amazon.com, CDBaby, iTunes and more. Do not forget to try to catch a concert when he comes to your area.
Also, you can connect with MISTER G on Facebook, Youtube and Twitter.
